Colistin Resistant, mcr-positive Salmonella Isolated from Broiler Chicken in Jordan - Whole Genome sequences and assemblies

This study investigated the least identified mcr genes, and genetically analyzed mcr carrying plasmid in Salmonella isolated from broilers in Jordan. Studying mcr genes and the plasmid carrying them will allow a better description and understanding of the colistin resistance mechanisms and the importance of the plasmid mediated spreading of mcr genes with other associated antimicrobial resistance genes that encode resistance to other antimicrobial classes leading to the spreading of MDR Salmonella, along with resistant to colistin which is one of the last resort antimicrobial treatments. This study included screening for multiple antimicrobial resistance genes and phenotypes that represents resistance toward different antimicrobial families.
