The whole cell expressions of all truncated and mutant forms of SERT in CHO cells were similar to those of the wild type transporter.

The levels of transporter proteins on the plasma membrane were assessed by biotinylation of surface proteins followed by gel electrophoresis and W/B, and calculated as the percent of whole cell expression. The data presented in Table 1 are the average from three independent experiments, normalized as percentage of expression or 5HT uptake rates of wild-type transporter.
