Retro-Inversion Imparts Antimycobacterial Specificity to Host Defense Peptides

We performed RNA sequencing in hopes of finding up- and down-regulated genes on Mycobacterium tuberculosis H37Rv cultures that had been exposed to subinhibitory concentrations of antimycobacterial peptide MAD1RI. This study is relevant as peptides designed by computer modeling can provide novel avenues of treatment to the growing threat of infection with drug-resistant Mycobacterium tuberculosis in humans.
