Green Roof Mapping (WFS Service)

Based on an automated method by EFTAS Fernerkundung Technologietransfer GmbH, a green roof mapping was carried out for the entire urban area. Thus, the already used area potential on the Dresden roof areas can be quantitatively recorded and a future further development of green roofs can be analyzed. The dot representations show the roof areas on which greenery was recorded. Only green roofs with a roof area from a size of ten square meters are shown. Concrete information on the exact coverage and the exact size of the green roof area is not shown in the map. The increasing resealing and the associated decline of green spaces and open spaces poses an enormous challenge for the city in times of climate change. Green roofs can be a solution due to their numerous ecological benefits. They have a positive influence on the urban climate, the water balance as well as the air and noise pollution. In addition, they can be implemented without additional urban soil consumption. As a result, green roofs are becoming increasingly important in sustainable future-oriented urban planning.
