Google Trends data and analysis code: online search behaviour after the 2025 sunscreen testing controversy in Australia and New Zealand

Weekly Google Trends data (26 December 2021 to 31 October 2026) for Australia and New Zealand on the search terms "sunscreen" and "SPF", together with trust-related and formulation-related queries, daily Australian data for May to December 2025, and related queries. The data were downloaded on 1 November 2026 and are provided as unmodified exports. The package also contains the Python code for the segmented regression and difference-in-differences analyses and for the figure. It supports a research letter on how public search behaviour changed after the June 2025 consumer testing report on sunscreen SPF claims and the regulatory action that followed in Australia. See README.md for file contents and methods.
