Homo sapiens YH1 genome sequencing and de novo assembly of an Asian individual

Genomic DNA was extracted from peripheral venous blood from a male Asian individual and sequenced to 71X depth of coverage using Illumina Genome Analyzer. A de novo assembly, named YH1, was subsequently generated from the short read data. A comparison of the Asian YH1 assembly, the African BGIAF assembly, and the reference genome assembly resulted in the identification of novel sequence data not represented in the reference assembly. The Homo sapiens whole genome shotgun (WGS) project has the project accession ADDF000000000.
