This strain is a virulent isolate from a case of naturally-occurring Caseous Lymphadenitis (CLA) in a sheep in the Scottish Borders in 1999. Its close relationship with other C. pseudotuberculosis isolates (including those from disease cases worldwide) and is therefore representative of the major epidemiological type.
