This dataset contains the boundary of the main urban area of Urumqi, Xinjiang, China, provided as an ESRI shapefile. The boundary delineates the main built-up urban area used for surface urban heat island analysis and excludes surrounding oasis, agricultural, and other non-urban land. It was prepared by the authors for satellite-based urban thermal studies of Urumqi. The coordinate reference system is EPSG:4326. The data are provided as a ZIP archive including the .shp, .shx, .dbf, .prj, and .cpg files.
