Mycobiome diversity of the limestone Rozanec Mithraeum monument (Slovenia)

Mitrej above Rozanec is a limestone monument (in the forest of Judovje, Slovenia), which represents the god Mithras performing the sacrificial act. Since significant biodeterioration was detected on the surface of the relief, primary purpose of the study was to identify the mycobiome associated with the damaged surfaces of the monument to obtain a more comprehensive picture of fungal-induced deterioration. Total mycobiota was analyzed by using the NovaSeq 6000 sequencing platform.
