Evolution of the commensal fecal microbiota profiles associated to the intestinal mucosa damage in precancerous states and debut of colorectal cancer

Colorectal cancer (CRC) is a process in which progressive intestinal mucosa damage occurs over years. Endoscopic screening of polyps and histopathological examination are used clinically to determine CRC risk and progress. We analyzed the microbiota composition by 16S rRNA gene sequencing in feces of volunteers depending on the clinical diagnosis group they were classified: Control (n=32), presence of polyps (n=42) and CRC (n=3).
