Animal experiment: the effect of light exposure on the diurnal oscillation of gut microbiota in mice

We focused on the potential impact of light exposure, the main factor that affects the central and peripheral circadian oscillation, on the diurnal compositional and functional oscillation of intestinal micrioflora to explore the upstream factor that governs the functuations of the gut microbes.Mice were fed ad libitum maintained in constant darkness (DD), to evaluate the impact of light exposure, while the control group mice that were fed ad libitum and underwent regular light/dark (LD) cycles (12 hr/12hr).
