WT and NOD2-/- (n = 6 per group) were treated with MDP (10 mg/kg) alone or in combination with LTB4 (1 μg/kg). Animals were sacrificed 6 hours post-treatment and levels of TNFα and IL-6 were measured in lung homogenates of mice by ELISA. Administration of LTB4 alone to naive mice did not induce significant production of TNFα and IL–6. *p<0.05 as compared to respective MDP-treated group. NS: not stimulated. LTB4 potentiates in vivo secretion of TNFα and IL–6 in response to MDP treatment.
