A Phase 1 Trial of Fecal Microbiome Transplantation in Peanut Allergy, human microbiome data

In this human trial, 10 patients received oral frozen encapsulated Fecal Microbiota Transplantation (FMT) from a healthy donor after reacting to <=100mg peanut protein during entry food challenge. Food challenge was then repeated at 1 month and 4 months post FMT. 5 additional patients received a 4-day course of antibiotics prior to receiving FMT. Stools were collected serially at multiple intervals in the study, including baseline, 4 weeks, 4 months and 6 months post FMT. Patients were considered responders if their threshold dose of reactivity increased to 300 mg or 600 mg post FMT. In total, 6 patients were responders, including 3 from the non-antibiotic arm and 3 from the antibiotic arm. Longitudinal microbiome 16S amplicon rRNA sequencing data were generated from samples of this cohort.
