Silicon Isotope Signatures from a Mesocosm Experiment off Peru (2017, SFB754)

The table includes a complete list of nutrient data (Nitrate, Silicate, Phosphate), particulate data (PON, POP, bSi). All units are in μmol/L-1. Phytoplankton data (Diatom and silicoflagellate abundances) in cell counts (cell x 10^6 and %) as well as the as the dissolved and particulate silicon isotope data (‰) from selected Mesocosms (M1, M2, M7) obtained during a KOSMOS Experiment off the Peruvian coast close to San Lorenzo Island (12.0555°S, 77.2348°W) in 2017 (Start: 25th of February, Duration 50 days) . The Project was part of the SFB754. Seawater and particulate samples were taken with a CTD sampler. Every 2nd day, subsamples for nutrients and natural Si isotopes were sampled from the surface layer. For δ30SidSi and δ30SibSi, 115 to 2000 ml of seawater was filtered through a 0.65 μm Polycarbonate filter (Whatman®, 0.65 μm pore size, 47 mm). Immediately after filtration, the seawater filtrate for δ30SidSi was acidified to pH 2 and stored in the dark. Filters for δ30SibSi were dried at 40°C. Dissolved and particulate Si samples were later processed at GEOMAR, Helmholtz Centre for Ocean Research, Kiel, Germany. For details about the sampling see also Bach et al. (2020).
