Retail sales value of department stores in Japan 2014-2023

In 2023, the retail sales value of department stores in Japan amounted to around six trillion Japanese yen, continuing the recovery trend of the previous years. The number of department stores in operation declined steadily within the last decade, but recovered to almost six thousand stores in 2023.
