VPRS 19377 Medical Appointments Committee Minutes

The minute books in this series record the proceedings of meetings of the Medical Appointments Committee of Prince Henry's Hospital. The meetings were chaired by the President of the Board of Management of Prince Henry's Hospital. The Medical Appointments Committee met between one and three times per year. Meetings often occurred in November to make appointments for the following year. The Medical Appointments Committee was responsible for making medical appointments to the hospital establishment. It determined the salaries to be made in relation to those appointments. It was distinct from the Electoral Committee for Honorary and Surgical Positions. The latter was responsible for making appointments to Honorary positions. The Medical Appointments Committee discussed matters such as position duties, arrangements to be made in cases of non-acceptance of appointments, the principle on which appointments were to be made such as preference for Prince Henry's graduates or academic results or personal attributes or war service, the procedure of appointment, notification of appointment, vacancies, delegation of power to make appointments, and late applications. The last meeting of the Medical Appointments Committee recorded in these minute books was held on 17 November 1986.
