Transcriptomic analysis of Clostridium thermocellum strain LL1210 growing in chemostat culture at different pH values

Clostridium thermocellum is a candidate for cellulosic ethanol production. Understanding how this bacterium responds to growth at different pH values and regulates its gene expression is of importance for developing a better fundamental understanding of this industrial relevant bacterium and for applied outcomes. C. thermocellum strain LL1210 (?hpt ?hydG ?ldh ?pfl ?pta-ack described in Tian et al. Biotechnology for Biofuels 2016. 9:116) was grown at 55 °C in duplicate 750 ml chemostat cultures in MTC medium containing 3 g/L cellobiose as the carbon source and fed at a dilution rate of 0.1 h-1 for transcriptomics . Technical replicates were collected for each bioreactor for transcriptomic analysis via RNA-Seq at pH 6.98, 6.48, 6.23, and pH 6.12.
