A Dataset of Place Names from J.G. Lorimer's Gazetteer of the Persian Gulf, Central Arabia and Oman (1908)

This dataset includes all mentions of place names, totalling almost 45,000, found in the Geographical and Statistical Gazetteer (Volume II) of John Gordon Lorimer’s Gazetteer of the Persian Gulf, Central Arabia and Oman. The dataset contains place names transliterated into English, with occasional Arabic, Persian or Ottoman Turkish equivalents. We have linked each instance of a place name with a GeoNames ID, where found.
