资源简介:
Photograph of Charlotta Bass, second from right, listening to an unidentified speaker deliver an address during a birthday celebration for the Independent Progressive Party (IPP) of California. Reuben Borough is seated on the left; he was the party's candidate for U.S. Senate from California in 1952. Robert W. Kenny, attorney general of California from 1943-47 and counsel for the Hollywood Ten, is seated between the speaker and Bass; progressive attorney Dan Marshall is seated on the right, smoking a cigarette. IPP was formed on June 15, 1948, when the Progressive Citizens of America, Southern California chapter, merged with the Independent Progressive Party of California. The newly merged party supported Henry Wallace's presidential campaign in 1948.
