资源简介:
Site 5RB2372 consists of a scatter of hearths located on the third
alluvial terrace on the west side of Douglas Creek. The vegetation in the
vicinity of this site consists of sagebrush (Artemisia), saltbush (Atriplex,
a Cheno-am), mormon tea (Ephedra), greasewood (Sarcobatus), and tumbleweed
(Salsola). The vegetation near Douglas Creek changes rapidly through
various zones as the elevation increases from the creek to the pinon/juniper
woodlands (Creasman 1981). Four hearths were selected for pollen and
macrofloral analysis from this site. The purpose of pollen analysis at this
site was to define the paleoenvironment at the time or times the site was
occupied. Macrofloral analysis was aimed at determining what, if any, plant
foods were prepared in these hearths.
