Sediment core photographs collected aboard R/V Point Sur cruise PS18-25 in the northern Gulf of Mexico from 2018-05-18 to 2018-05-23

This dataset contains sediment core photographs collected aboard R/V Point Sur cruise PS18-25 in the northern Gulf of Mexico (NGoM) from 2018-05-18 to 2018-05-23. The dataset also includes an excel file with the core collection date and location, site ID, core ID, and water depth. Ocean Instrument MC-800 Multicore was used to grab cores from sediments. Sediment cores were longitudinally split and photographed with a Nikon D5100 digital camera with a scale in metric units (cm and mm) for a visual representation of sediment stratigraphy, color, and visual properties. Cruise documentation was provided for the R/V Point Sur cruise PS18-25, led by chief scientist Dr. Arne Diercks.
