资源简介:
Sulfur oxidizing gammaproteobacteria from the SUP05 clade often dominate marine microbial communities in anoxic environments enriched in sulfide (reviewed in Morris & Spietz, 2022). These include free living members in marine oxygen minimum zones (OMZs), many of which are facultatively anaerobic and can respire oxygen or nitrogen oxides. Their largest impact on the marine N cycle, is thus under low dissolved oxygen or strictly anoxic conditions. Understanding the roles of these chemoautotrophs in N cycling in marine OMZs, where they can be either a sink or a source of nitrogen oxides, is critical to understanding global N cycling. The purpose of this study was to identify the genetic potential for chemoautotrophic nitrogen oxide respiration in additional SUP05 isolates from a marine OMZ.
