Fifty-Six Plain-English Questions and Answers on Selling or Licensing Company Data to AI Labs

When an owner first hears that AI labs license company data, the same questions come up: is my data worth anything, who owns it, what happens to the names in it, who pays whom. This file collects 56 of those questions with short answers in everyday English, written by a data broker from its own published guidance. Each row holds a topic (basics, value, samples, privacy, rights, terms, brokers, process, closing companies, buyers or legal), whether the question comes from a seller or a lab, the question as it would be asked aloud, and a brief answer. It can seed a help center, test a question-answering model against careful wording, or serve as a reference when you check what a chatbot says about data licensing. The answers deliberately avoid three things: no deal amounts, no named buyers and no promises of outcome. Where a figure would be a guess, the answer says that nobody can price data honestly without seeing a sample. Limits: the text reflects one broker's view of how these deals run, it is written for US-style business practice, and it is not legal advice.
