2 environmental strains of S. cerevisiae were subjected to a fluctuation assay to generate hundreds of mutants resistant to the antifungal flucytosine (5-FC). We sequenced 276 mutants and 6 control strains by WGS to identify the resistance-conferring mutations and found that most harbor loss-of-function mutations in the gene FUR1, which encodes an enzyme involved in the metabolism of 5-FC
