X-ray Spectroscopic Investigation of Spin Order and Spin-Voltage Conversion in Non-Collinear Antiferromagnet/Molecular Interfaces

This proposal will investigate the electronic and magnetic properties of Y3Fe5O12(YIG)/Mn3Pt bilayers with and without a C60 overlayer using x-ray spectroscopy techniques. Here, we aim to elucidate our surprising recent electron transport and magnetometry results that display a four-fold symmetry in the spin Hall magnetoresistance and a potential chiral exchange bias in these structures. For the first time, we will also study the effect of molecular interfaces in non-collinear spin structures and gain unique insights into their potential for tunable, strong spin-voltage conversion and topological effects enhanced by the fullerenes. Our experiments at ALBA will resolve the spin structure of Mn3Pt under different conditions, its coupling with the underlying ferrimagnet and the effect of C60. Furthermore, we will investigate the elemental origin of spin polarised charge transfer from metal-to-molecule and the presence of any magnetic proximity effects. Our findings will provide a comprehensive understanding of spin order and spin-voltage conversion at the YIG/Mn3Pt/C60 system, paving the way for new discoveries in non-collinear antiferromagnets and molecular interfaces.
