How H3K4 methylation regulates oocyte development is largely unexplored. In this study, we demonstrate that oocyte-specific expression of dominant negative mutant H3.3-K4M led to decrease of the level of H3K4 methylation and reduced global transcriptional activity in mouse oocytes, leading to disturbed oocyte developmental potency.
