Salmonella enterica serovar Typhi is responsible for typhoid fever, a significant public health concern, especially in developing regions. The rise of antimicrobial resistance in this pathogen has reduced the effectiveness of commonly used antibiotics, making treatment more difficult and increasing the risk of complications.
This research focuses on the analysis of genotypic data to identify genetic variations associated with antibiotic resistance. By examining mutation patterns and resistance-linked genetic markers across multiple strains, the study aims to understand how resistance develops and spreads. Bioinformatics tools will be used to interpret genomic data and identify key signatures that can inform treatment and surveillance.
This will further help in:
1. Identifying resistance-associated genetic markers to enable more accurate and timely treatment decisions.
2. Supporting targeted antibiotic use through genotypic insights, thereby reducing misuse and slowing resistance development.
