Danish Gallup Omnibus Data 1964, Omnibus no. 09

Danish Gallup Omnibus Data 1964 comprises 12 omnibus surveys carried out by the Danish Gallup Institute in 1964. This data material contains information from omnibus no. 09. # #Each survey contains a number of demographic variables common to all the surveys of that year, as well as a number of questions dealing with topical events. # #The questions common to all 1964 omnibuses are: degree of urbani- zation, sex, age, marital status, number of persons in household and composition of household, occupational status of respondent and of supporter, income of respondent and total income of family, education of respondent, occupational status of housewife, social group, type of dwelling, possession of garden and/or summer cot- tage, party preference at the latest general election and at a hypothetical election on the day after the interview (except in bus nos. 10 and 12). # #The special questions in this omnibus deal with the following issues: # #Knowledge of the US presidential elections on 4 November, 1964; which candidate the respondent would prefer (Lyndon B. Johnson or Barry Goldwater) and why; assessment of Goldwater's and Khrushchev's efforts to promote peace in the world; attitudes to consumption tax; important political issues in the coming election campaign (economy, housing, tax, education, defence, social welfare); the political party best qualified to solve the problems; assessment of language courses on radio and TV; and strapless evening dresses and swimsuits
