A Study of the Appropriateness of Furniture Dimensions for Obese Students

This study was conducted on adolescents aged between 15–17 in one school located in Guangzhou, Guangdong, China. The school was randomly selected to measure anthropometry and the sample consisted of 837 volunteer students (691 male and 146 female) from the first and second year of high school. The research plan received permission from school officials before it started and consent forms were forwarded to the guardians of all children in each of the selected classes. For this study students were measured on a flat horizontal surface while sitting with knees bent at 90°. The children’s height and weight were assessed using scale measurement while they were wearing minimal clothes in a standing posture.
