资源简介:
Background: Body of works for an international cultural exchange project creating a space for visual dialogue between Colombian and artists in different countries. Greg Creek and Columbian artist Jorge Julian Aristizabal addressed the research objective; how do game driven systems of creation produce visual outcomes that speak to common and global histories. Work examines conversational models of visual art devised by Colombian artist José Antonio Suárez Londoñ that utilise wordplay, chance and association Contribution: The research examines how collaborative processes based on the to-ing and fro-ing of Table Tennis generate a hybrid presence in exhibition which incporporates the viewer into the construction of meaning, see Charles Green (2001) The Third Hand. Twenty drawings by both Creek and Aristizabal are presented in pairs with a word caption investigating translation and its limitations as well as problems of representation and meaning. Curator Damien Smith states contrasting creative languages share 'a manner that is eclectic and profuse, technically accomplished yet haptic and open to chance' and 'suggest new developments might emerge when the processes of creative exploration are enabled'. Significance: Project was Commissioned by Government of Columbias as part of its Visual Arts Cultural Diplomacy initiative iIn association with Multicultural Arts Victoria, and the Art Cities and Transformation Research Group and the Design Research Institute, RMIT University. Aligned with similar RMIT initiatives, such as 'Alternative Worlds' which lead in 2013 to a Memorandum of Understanding between RMIT University and Mexico's National Centre for the Arts (CENART). The 'Ping Pong' project works to deepen cultural knowledge between and about the countries of Australia and Colombia.
