FoodSight: An Image Segmentation Dataset for Canteen Food Consumption and Waste

This dataset was collected as part of a student-led research project funded by a grant from the University of Padova. The project focuses on monitoring food consumption and waste in canteens using an advanced Computer Vision system. By leveraging image segmentation techniques, the dataset enables precise analysis of food portions before and after meals, providing valuable insights into consumption patterns, waste reduction strategies, and future food demand prediction. Ultimately, the goal is to promote sustainability, enhance food quality, and optimize meal pairings to improve customer satisfaction.
