COMPARATIVE CHARACTERISTICS OF MODERN ENZYMES USED IN THE LOCAL TREATMENT OF FACIAL FURUNCLES IN CHILDREN

The relevance of facial furuncles in pediatric practice is inseparably linked to the unique anatomical characteristics of the child’s body. According to the fundamental studies by Gubin (2018) and Paller (2022), the facial skin in children is significantly thinner than in adults, while the basal layer is characterized by high permeability. Traditionally, Staphylococcus aureus has been considered the principal causative agent of furunculosis. However, recent studies indexed in Scopus and PubMed (Shah, 2023; Smijs, 2022) have fundamentally changed the understanding of the biology of this process. It is biofilms that represent the main reason for the ineffectiveness of standard treatment in children.
