Droplet-DNA

DNA can be used to store digital data in synthetic short-sequence DNA pools, but they cannot be actively processed. Researchers have developed a droplet-controlled fluidics (DCF) system to edit and process the DNA data through splint ligation. The DNA fragments were synthesized in specific sizes and exchanged sequence information for droplet assembly. This allowed for serial and parallel processing to synthesize determined DNA pools that can be randomly accessed through polymerase chain reaction amplification. The assembled DNA data pools can be decoded with high fidelity through address primer scanning. Additionally, researchers were able to synthesize DNA pools with pixel information encoded by codons in the DCF system.
