资源简介:
This series is a collection of the media coverage of the Royal Children's Hospital (RCH) from 1898 to 2011. The collection is chronologically continuous but has been divided into two consignments reflecting a change in the method of gathering the clippings. Until 1996 newspaper clippings were collected and glued into scrapbooks, however from 1997 media monitoring services were used.Consignment 1 consists of large scrapbooks containing newspaper clippings glued on to the pages. The clippings are related to the RCH, including the Orthopaedic Section at Frankston. The books appear to have been compiled by a number of people using different methods. This has resulted in overlaps of dates between some volumes. Some of the volumes having indexes and some have page numbers. There are also a large number of loose clippings. In most books the clippings are annotated with the source newspaper and date. The first volume has a page of notes at the front that states that the volume was compiled by the Secretary to the Hospital. The last unit in this consignment is a box of files containing loose clippings. These appear to have been collected with the intention of gluing them into scrapbooks; however with the move away from scrapbooks to a media monitoring service the following year this never took place.Consignment 2 consists of media articles and transcripts collected by media monitoring services. The monitoring service was used for administrative purposes by the Executive Office and the Public Relations Department. The material comprises hard copy printouts of all media concerning the RCH and Women's and Children's Healthcare Network (later Women's and Children's Health) gleaned from the national, metropolitan, suburban and regional newspapers and transcripts (or prcis) of radio and television reports/interviews. From 1997 to 2000 the information is in the form of bundles of loose papers, but from 2000 the papers have been bound into volumes. The volumes are arranged chronologically, with one or more volumes per year. These are sometimes further divided each year according to the type or origin of the source material. There are separate volumes for large activities such as the annual Good Friday Appeal.Prior to transfer to Public Record Office Victoria, the records in this series were maintained as part of the RCH Archives. They were part of RCH accession numbers 2004/006 and 2005/002.
