Methylobacterium mesophilicum SR1.6/6 Genome sequencing. Methylobacterium mesophilicum SR1.6/6

The Pink-pigmented facultative methylotrophs bacterium Methylobacterium mesophlicum (α-proteobacteria) is ubiquitous in surface and interior of plants. The members of this genus are able to grow on one or several reduced one carbon (C1), such as methylamine and methanol, which is a volatile organic compound produced by plants and also induce the plant growth. Methylobacterium mesophilicum strain SR1.6/6 was isolated from Citrus sinensis and the interaction with Xylella fastidiosa, causal agent of CVC (Citrus-Variegated Chlorosis), has been proposed. Also, M. mesophilicum SR1.6/6 produce at least six long-chain acyl-HSLs, and can be transmitted by Bucephalogonia xanthophis, a sharpshooter insect, suggesting that this strain is able to interact with different host and microbial communities.
