Hormones in development and diseases of the male
收藏资源简介:
The central focus of this Doctorate of Medical and Health Sciences is the study of hormones and their effect on the development, functioning, and diseases of the male reproductive organs. This Doctorate of Medical and Health Sciences focusses on hormones and male reproductive organ development, function, and disease. My research began in the testis, where Leydig cells produce androgens and oestrogens. Understanding how normal testicular androgen (and estrogen) production is controlled helped explain penile and prostate gland abnormalities; testicular dysfunction. Then I studied prostatic stem cell differentiation and growth regulation in normal and malignant prostate glands. Using this knowledge, I learnt how to grow human prostate tissue and make them into models for pre-clinical testing and drug development and established a major resource for International prostate cancer researchers.
