The metadata file shown here corresponds to datasets and analyses of research conducted in Mahale Mountains National Park (MMNP),Tanzania. The primary goal of this research was to acomplish the first comprehensive and systematic census of chimpanzees (<em>Pan troglodytes schweinfurthii</em>) inside MMNP. Additional objectives were to assess the diversity of plant and animal life, as well as the amount of human activity within park boundaries. This research was conducted from March 2018 - January 2019. Data were collected via distance sampling (wildlife) and plot sampling (botanical) along 102 transects line transects from across 13 survey sites. <br>
