This data collection is part of a continuing series of monthly surveys that evaluate the Bush presidency and solicit opinions on a variety of political and social issues. Topics covered include Bush's political orientation, comparison of Bush and Reagan, Bush's greatest accomplishment/biggest failure in his first year, Bush's concern for the needs and problems of Blacks and of people like the respondent, whether Bush is in charge of what goes on in his administration, whether Bush has made the United States a kinder, gentler nation, and whether Bush will continue sending American troops into other countries to overthrow dictators. Additionally, respondents were questioned regarding foreign policy, the national economy, the drug problem, abortion, the environment, taxes, the homeless, Social Security, the Iran-Contra affair, corruption in Congress, federal spending on defense, how a potential peace dividend should be used, nuclear war, the cold war, women in combat, the invasion of Panama, Noriega's trial, and relations with China. They were also asked for their opinions of the Republican and Democratic parties, congressional representatives, and Dan Quayle. Demographic information collected includes sex, age, race, education, family income, religion, ethnicity, political orientation, party preference, and voting behavior.
