STYLISTIC FEATURES OF METAPHOR AND SIMILE IN UZBEK AND ENGLISH PROVERBS: A CONTRASTIVE LINGUISTIC ANALYSIS

This thesi analyzes the stylistic features of metaphors and similes in English and Uzbek proverbs. Proverbs reflect the culture, traditions, and worldview of a nation. Figurative language helps express ideas more clearly and emotionally. The study shows that English proverbs mainly use short and implicit metaphors connected with trade, weather, and sea life, while Uzbek proverbs often contain expressive comparisons related to family, agriculture, and nature. The thesis also discusses similarities and differences between the two languages from a contrastive linguistic perspective.
