Identification of ruminal starch utilizing bacterial strain

A batch culture approach was used to identify starch utilizing bacteria from the rumen of beef cows. Samples were collected and analyzed from the rumen fluid donors and in cultures that were either supplemented with starch or not (control). 16S rRNA profiling was used to monitor changes in bacterial composition. A metagenomics/shot gun approach was used to annotate the genome of an enriched bacterial strain.

本研究采用批量培养法，从肉牛瘤胃中筛选出能够利用淀粉的细菌。通过对瘤胃液捐赠者以及添加淀粉与否的对照培养物进行样本采集与分析，以监测细菌组成的变化。此外，通过16S rRNA基因测序技术对细菌群落结构进行剖析，并采用宏基因组/散弹射击法对富集的细菌菌株进行全基因组注释。
