Polycrystalline samples of A2Ir2O7 (A ¼ Gd, Eu, and Sm) weresynthesized by the solid-state reaction method. The starting ma-terials, powders of A2O3 (purity 99.9%) and IrO2 (99.99%) weremixed thoroughly according to the stoichiometric ratio of 1: 2.1. Themixed powders were sintered at 1373 K for 4 days with severalintermediate grindings. After adding 10% IrO2, the powder sampleswere pressed into pellets. Then, the samples were sintered at1423 K for another 4 days. The structure and phase purity werechecked by the Rigaku-TTR3 X-ray diffractometer with high-intensity graphite monochromatized Cu Ka radiation. The re-sistivity measurements were performed using the conventionalfour-probe method with the temperature varied using a closed-cycle helium refrigeration unit. The hydrostatic high-pressure re-sistivity measurements were carried out using a clamp-type piston pressure cell and employed Daphne 7373 oil as the medium totransmit pressure with a high level of high homogeneity. To cali-brate the pressures at room temperature, we used Cu2O powder asa manometer, whose nuclear quadrupole resonance frequency as afunction of pressure has been determined very accurately.
