The Cattle Type data set is part of the East Coast Fever (ECF) database covering sub-Saharan, East, and Central Africa. The ECF study determined both areas at risk and potential migration of the disease by cattle and a potential pool of infection for transmitting the
disease to domestic cattle by buffalo which is the main wildlife host of the ECF. The study was carried out in Nairobi by United Nations Environment Program, Global Resource Information Database (UNEP/GRID) in collaboration with the International Laboratory for Research on
Animal Diseases (ILRAD), now called International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI).
