Replication Data for: Synthesizing Americans’ Perspectives on Forensic and Scientific Genetic Biobanks

In our paper under review, \"Synthesizing Americans’ Perspectives on Forensic and Scientific Genetic Biobanks\", we examine Americans’ views on scientific and forensic genetic biobanks with two original surveys. The first Genomics, Knowledge, and Politics (GKAP 1) survey was conducted in 2011 by Knowledge Networks (now Ipsos). Respondents were sampled from their KnowledgePanel, a probability-based web panel designed to be representative of the U.S. adult population. There were 4,291 completed surveys, including Black and Latino oversamples (with Spanish-language option). We conducted a second KnowledgePanel survey (GKAP 2) in 2017 (N = 1,777). All 2011 participants were invited to participate in GKAP 2; additional respondents were recruited to improve representativeness of the second cross-section and reach the target for respondents. We analyze both cross-sections as well as the panel who completed both the 2011 and 2017 surveys (N = 959). We use post-stratification weights in quantitative analyses to improve representativeness. These data files include only those variables utilized in our paper. Future iterations of this data deposit will include replication files for all analyses, once the paper has been published.
