Small RNA fraction (17-35 nucleotide reads) was sequenced to provide new insights in biogenesis of piRNAs in humans and its role in development of testicular germ cell tumors. Samples included healthy postnatal testis, and 6 pairs of testicular germ cell tumors and matching carcinoma in situ containing samples (3 seminomas and 3 nonseminomas) as well as in vitro knockdown of PL2L60A (short PIWIL2/HILI isoform) in TERA-1 cell line.
