Code and Data for Forest Connectivity Boosts Carbon Recovery in Regenerating Atlantic Forests

Description:This repository contains the datasets and R scripts (source.zip file) used to produce the analyses and figures presented in the manuscript Forest Connectivity Boosts Carbon Recovery in Regenerating Atlantic Forests. Contents: Data — Table and spatial data containing the data required to run the R scripts R scripts: Step3_1_ChapR_model_regional.R — Fits the Chapman–Richards regrowth model for each region (Figure 1). Step3_3_ChapR_model_regional_FAD_fragmentation.R — Fits the Chapman–Richards regrowth model for each region, separated by landscape connectivity category (Figure 3). Step4_MultiLinear_analysis.R — Performs the multiple linear regression analysis (Figure 2). extract_stocks_2020_by_region_age.R — Calculates carbon stocks by region and forest age (Figure 4). extract_regrowth_rates_references.R — Extracts regrowth rates from reference studies (Figure 6). Usage notes: Working directories: The working directory paths inside the scripts must be updated to match your local file structure. Execution order: The scripts should be run sequentially (numbered above), as later analyses depend on outputs generated by earlier scripts (e.g., model results needed for subsequent calculations).
