The table shows the three environments defined by carbon (C) and nitrogen (N) uptake and the scaling of biomass groups.

The groupings are used to scale the containing compounds for the creation of the BOF [17, 21, 39–45]. For example, we define that protein is scaled by 0.2 in a nitrogen limited environment. Consequently, the factor for each compounds in the protein group is multiplied by the corresponding factor for the new BOF.
