Background: Prostate cancer (PC) is a complex and heterogenous disease with largely unknown etiology. Colibactin-producing pks+ E. coli have been implicated in cancers at microbiome niches, raising the possibility of their involvement in PC. We therefore investigated the association of pks+ E. coli in prostate cancer cell lines. We also investigated possible synergistic effects on genome instability between colibactin and DHT.
