We examined gut microbiota in High fat diet 32 (HFD32)-fed ICR mice (HFD-mice) with or without a complex poly-saccharide (Fructooligosaccharides; FOS). An isolation cabinet was purchased from Seobit (Tokyo, Japan). Six weeks male ICR mice were purchased from Tokyo Laboratory Animal Science (Tokyo, Japan). Normal diet (CE-2) and High fat diet 32 (HFD32) were purchased from CLEA Japan (Tokyo, Japan). HFD32 feeding increased body weight of ICR mice [2]. After 7 weeks, HFD32-fed ICR mice (HFD-mice) were fed 2% of Lac or FOS. For 16S analysis (see above), feces were collected from CE-2 fed mice (Control), Lac fed HFD-mice (Lac mice) and FOS fed HFD-mice (FOS mice) after 17 weeks [CE-2 feeding for 17 weeks (Control); Lac and FOS feeding for 11 weeks).
