Space Technologies in U.S. Patents

This dataset contains the list of USPTO patents in space-related technologies. Only patents that are coded as space-related according to at least one classification method are included in the dataset. Working Paper The variables are as follows: patnum: USPTO patent number space_score: Score (between 0 and 1) obtained from the logistic regression to predict proximity to space technologies fyear: Filing year of the patent space_transport_narrow: Flag (0-1) for whether the patent belongs to the Space Transportation (narrow) group space_transport_extended: Flag (0-1) for whether the patent belongs to the Space Transportation (extended) group broader_space_tech: Flag (0-1) for whether the patent belongs to the Broader Space Technologies group category_code: Code for the category of space technology within the Dealroom taxonomy category_name: Name of the category of space technology within the Dealroom taxonomy
