Illumina NextSeq sequencing was performed on Astragalus (Fabaceae) taxa, primarily those in Neo-Astragalus, the New World Clade of the genus. These genome skimming data are being used to assemble plastid genome and nuclear ribosomal DNA cistron sequences for improved phylogenies of Neo-Astragalus, which are facilitating studies on the evolution of plastome structure, morphological characters, and selenium hyperaccumulation in the clade.
